Thoughts...
The June holidays have finally begun! This is where the preparation for the A levels begin. The mid-year exams are particularly important because it is where I can build up momentum till the A levels as almost the entire syllabus is included in this exam. I will aim to get onto the Honour's Roll so as to give myself more confidence. One must never become complacent even if you do well. I watched the NBA match this morning, Pistons v Heat. The Heat were up 11 points initially, but the lead was gone within minutes as the players made bad shot selections and committed many turnovers. Sports really does inspire you to make good decisions and set goals for yourself.
I have learnt that only results count in today's society. No matter how much effort you put in, if you do not get the results, it doesn't count. The winner of the 2006 World Cup will get their place in the history books and be remembered for life, while the losers go home under criticism and a sense of failure.
Recently, I've also been seeing alot of news about Memebers of Parliament setting up committees to assess the needs of residents, and conducting Meet-the-Residents' sessions more regularly. PAP has finally woken up and try to redeem themselves after almost losing Aljunied GRC and having only 66% votes at AMK. However, only time will tell if they are fully committed to their plans to help residents. With transport fares going up soon, and GST rumoured to be increased to 8% in the near future, the cost of living can only go further up. It is also sad to see that some Singaporeans earn only $450 a month (published in Friday's ST about the New Poor), while the Ministers earn 200 times more. MP Low Thia Khiang's idea about varying the Ministers' pay according to the people's income is definitely a logical one. The new MPs introduced by the PAP were born with a silver spoon, studied in top schools and mixed around mostly with the elites. How would they understand and thus solve the problems of the low income group?
Lots of thoughts gone through my mind...
