Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to everyone! The good'ol phrase 'Goodbye 2007, hello 2008!'

I'll attempt to summarize the events that happened to me in 2007.

First Temp Job (Jan-Apr)
My first temp job was, in my opinion, a super cool one. My aunt who used to work at Ritz-Carlton, helped me get a temp job at the hotel as a business centre assistant and retail shop salesperson. It was one of my most memorable experiences.

I had the opportunity to get an insight into the operations of such a major hotel. I donned on a suit and tie during work, and got to interact with both friendly and demanding hotel guests. I got to meet personalities like FIFA president Joseph Blatter, Vegas Sands Resort owner Sheldon Adelson, and our dear ministers SM Goh and PM Lee.

I also made a couple of good friends, Sandy and Xiao Yuan. They worked at the kiosk selling cakes, which was just adjacent to the retail shop. I'll never forget the fun moments we had chatting and working together. However quite sadly, I realise I don't have any pictures capturing to moments working in this wonderful job...

A Level results (Feb)
One of the life-changing events. Again, couldn't find pictures of it, thought the NYJC website would have it, but to no avail. The college performed very well for the '06 A lvls, everyone was happy. I won't forget the moment I hugged my friends with joy upon receiving the results, and calling up my Mum and Dad with joy and relieve. The next major life-changing event will probably be my Uni graduation.

Enlisting into Navy (Apr)
All my guy friends, and I mean ALL, where enlisted to the Army. I was the only one who had to report to NDU on 13 April 07. I didn't know what to expect.

Here's a picture of my brother and I. It was taken during the first weekend when I returned home.

Navy Open House (26 May)

I got the opportunity to help out at the RSN Open House aka Navy Open House. It was the Navy's 40th anniversary. I got to mingle around with the other Navy personnel, and it was fun to see the reaction of people after they took the rides operated by NDU. There were the jet ski, banana boat and RHIBS (a military speedboat). One lady was so scared while getting out of the RHIB onto the pontoon, that she grabbed my arm so hard, blarh.

NDP '07 (Aug)
I also helped out at the NDP 07. It was also fun like the RSN Open House, as I got to experience new surroundings and to escape the routine life in camp. The memorable moments were seeing the beautiful fireworks lighting up the night sky, and looking at the large crowd of people gathered at the Esplanade Park to watch the NDP and fireworks.

Long break (Dec)
I could finally take a long break from the hectic life. I went on a trip to Kuala Lumpur with my family. I was also able to meet and catch up with friends.

Tomorrow will mark the start of the usual hectic life in the new year of 2008. I do have several New Year resolutions:
1. Make the most of my time in NS
2. Pass my driving test in April '08
3. Run 2.4km under 9mins, basically to keep fit
4. Participate and complete a half-marathon, either the Army Half-Marathon, or the year-end Stand-Chart marathon
5. Meet up more oftenly with all my friends
6. Perform a smooth landing for the Boeing 747 in the flight sim game, something which I started attempting to achieve since mid-'07.

I certainly hope 2008 will be a fruitful and memorable year for me and everyone! :)
Hopefully I'll not be too busy, and be able to update my blog regularly.
