1000 hits and more

Wow, my blog has reached 1000 page views. Thank you everyone for visiting my online diary and looking into the depth of my heart. I'm sure it'll hit 2000 page views by the end of September. :)

Today is like an examination day. I took the EMath P1 and Biology Mock Exam today at school. The EMath exam paper was alright but the Biology exam was a killer despite studying so hard for it. All the questions were application-based and not content-based. Angelina was the first to complete the paper and everyone applauded her effort.

Also, I wore the class t-shirt for the first time today. Almost everyone from 4/9 was wearing it too. Comments about the shirt? The neck portion of the shirt is too small and seem to be strangling me, heh. The t-shirt was thick but cannot absorb my perspiration. I think that the theory of cotton shirts being able to absorb sweat is wrong. I find that nylon shirts such as my school uniform absorb moisture more effectively.

I'm so sad for not being able to win tickets to today's NDP preview... :( A few of my classmates got it and some invited other classmates who did not win tickets, like Victor and Rebecca, to the parade. I've entered the ST NDP Tix competition, and really praying hard to be able to win the actual NDP tickets. Wish me luck! :)

Added background music

I decided to add some background music to lighten up the website. Since I'm so inspired by the movie Titanic, I'll start with adding the theme song "My Heart Will Go On". I've got Piano Instrumental versions of Linkin Park songs e.g. Numb, Crawling and Breaking The Habit which I will add to my blog as background music in a week or two later.

Enjoy the music :)

Titanic - The Ship of Dreams

I've finally finished downloading the 4GB DVD version of Titanic and I spent about 3 hours watching it on PC. The movie is still as mesmerizing, inspiring and meaningful even after 7 years from its production in 1997.

Titanic - The Movie

Titanic, directed by James Cameron, broke box-office records by collecting a total of US$1.8 billion after 38 weeks. The movie starred Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet and won a record of 11 Oscar awards including best original music and visual effects.

I know that this movie is ancient but I do think it is worth re-watching because it inspires.

reflections for the day

National Day Parade aka NDP is becoming an increasingly prestigious event for Singaporeans. Tickets to attend the Parade can be valued for as high as S$100! I myself want to go for the NDP because of the beautiful fireworks display.
And today, there was a chance to get tickets but I blew it! The announcement for the ticket balloting said that it'd start at 2:30pm, and when I got there, the teachers in charge said that the entry for the balloting closed at 2:30pm (fuck it)! Well, the announcement was downright vague and the teacher who wrote it deserves to be shot at. Not only me, a few of my classmates were angry too, it was totally unfair!

Also, I got my class t-shirt today. It was quite nice, but the price tag of $14 is pretty steep for a simple shirt. The design of the shirt is nice though, thanks to hemma, stella and fernando for their great work! I hope the shirt will not shrink after washing, cause it'll not fit me then.

The social studies test today was quite easy, managed to complete it in 30 mins. I doubt the teacher would have the time and energy to mark over a hundred test scripts after every Wednesday's test. Students would probably not put in their utmost effort to score for the test too. I doubt Mrs Chua's mentality of "exams every week will do the student good" is going to work.

Overall, today's quite a relaxing day, no homework and tuition - at least for today.
The EPL season's going to start soon, on the 14th of Aug, not sure what's the first fixture though. But I'm sure that I'll be looking forward to watching Chelsea take on Man Utd or Arsenal! :D

*Nightmare Tuesday*

Argh, it's Tuesday again and it's the longest day of the week for me.

I woke up at 5:50am and the day ended at 7:30pm after my english tuition. Thats over 14 hours of non-stop studying, it's really tiring. I almost fell asleep in the bus on the way back from school, and also during the english tuition class....

Anyway, the Copa America Cup has ended with Brazil being the Champions. Now I've got no more soccer matches to watch during recess. The food in the canteen also sucks. I almost spat out my "cooked-food" meal which students eat almost everyday. It's just... yucks! But I've got no choice but to eat it, its the best type of stomach-filling food the canteen has to offer (argh!).

The Chemistry S-Cube ended pretty early today at about 4pm. As usual, I walked home with my friends and joked around. Zhenhao made great fun of Hongchuan and everyone was laughing their heads off, LOL. (People who were around should know what I'm talking about, haha)
Anyway, I do think that Hongchuan will get -her if he perseveres, and also with classmates creating opportunities for them to -bond as one-. heh. :D

It's about 2 more weeks to Singapore's birthday, and 2 weeks + 3 days to the succession of the Prime Ministeral position. I do hope that Mr Lee Hsien Loong will make a good PM and continue to improve the policies and welfare of the citizens of Singapore.

Hey, I again appeal to everyone: PLEASE SIGN MY GUESTBOOK! Thanks a million!

Rushed entry...

Well, its just another usual day for me today.

Had PE today and I kinda enjoyed it. Too bad we're going to have volleyball instead of soccer in the next few PE lessons, but never mind the change in sport, as long as we get to play outdoors. This is one of the very few times where I have played volleyball and my forearms are now reddish, probably the blood capillaries burst due to the sudden impact. Hope it'll heal soon though.

After school, there was the English Mock Exam where all Sec4s had to complete a comprehension passage. It was boring though, even though I managed to finish it about 30mins before time. Probably its one of the poorer tests that I'll fair in.

Alright, I'll have to get some sleep now. Bye!

P.S. Visitors please sign my guestbook before leaving, thanks!

Saturday Night Out

I came home late and didn't have any inspiration post a blog entry yesterday.

It was my ex-classmate's birthday yesterday, she invited all her friends to her chalet @ Downtown East. Luckily my Dad agreed to fetch me there after my tuition, else taking public transport from my tuition place to Pasir Ris would take about 2 hours! I went there with Wilson and to my surprise, the BBQ hadn't even started yet. Winston and Allen got the fire going at around 9pm and everyone including me helped out in the bbq'ing. :D There were hotdogs, chicken wings, 'honey you tiao', fried beehon, fried rice and a few other types food. Too bad there wasn't satay, no idea why, I love satay.

All the ex-2/5 people cliqued together around a table and ate the food. Next, the 2/7 gang aka gay club, no one seemed to welcome them though.

After all the fun, we planned on how to get home. It was about 11pm by then and the Band members whom we wanted to wait for before we leave, hadn't arrived. In the end, we decided not to wait for them and left after cutting the bday cake. I went home by cab as the bus services had halted service by that time.

There was another situation altogether in the taxi. The driver seemed to have a poor eyesight and didn't even put on his glasses. He even asked us to look out for a signboard along the way, amazing huh? Worse still, he took the route which was longer, wasted about 30mins of our time. If I were a tourist, I would have complained about him and not come to Singapore anymore.

Blarh, this is the end of the summary of my night-out yesterday.

Great day today.

Wow, it's Friday again; Time really flies! I was just recalling about the post I made last Friday about my wet journey home, and here I am, writing an entry a week later.

It has been a superb day. School was so relaxed today as the teachers were held up by the NDP practice yesterday. We only had Physics, Math and Chemistry lessons. We also had a special 3rd recess :D

After school, I went to play basketball w/ xx and hc at AJC as we were attending a talk by our ex-Bio teacher, Mrs Fong. The talk was entitled "Social and ethical responsibility in the use of Scientific Knowledge". Although it was boring, I gained knowledge and feelings about how Science has manipulated our world and how people now abuse Science [e.g. Nuclear bombs and cloning (very controversial)].

After the talk, Mrs Fong brought us to Dome where we all chatted and caught up with each other. The meal was great, I had Iced Latte and ordered 3 pizzas which was shared among 7 of the boys :D The girls had their own drinks and food. We sat there for about 2 hours sharing with each other the happenings in school, jokes and chatterings. We'd never had such a long and heartful chat before, it was great! We had so, so much fun!

Mrs Fong even gave Hq, Ws and I a lift home as she lived near my house. She talked to us about the "school politics" heh. It was even more complicated than my class's own politics. Listening to it already kind of illustrated to me what are some of the things which goes on in the staff room.

Alright, I've to get some shut-eyes now. Zi Rong signing off :)

Chinese lessons are ever so inspiring

I admit that I found Chinese difficult to learn and boring when I was in Primary School and Sec School. But all these changed when Mr Ong taught me Chinese. His lessons are always so inspiring, teaching me words/idioms/phrases which spur me on in life.
I find that Chinese is much more meaningful than the English Language. Every Chinese character has a meaning of its own, unlike the alphabats of English. Don't you all think so? :D

Anyway, I stayed back for 2hrs today for the Maths remedial lesson. At the end of the lesson, Stephenie became the limelight of the chat. Mr Lee said that the formula for success in the O Levels is: Success = (Hardwork)^x, where x is infinite. :)

Nothing much again for today... I do look forward to next Monday's PE lesson, after missing 2 lessons of PE this week! *sad*

Racial Harmony Day cum Class Revamping

The day has finally come for a teacher to complain about our seating arrangement, haha. Mrs Haugen demanded us to re-arrange the table and chairs to the plain 4 by 2 arrangement (we were seating in rows of 4 or 5s before that).
This time, Wen Hui wanted to go away from HC, and well, I obliged. We both sat together at the back instead of the front. The distance from the board forced me to put on my glasses more oftenly. I dislike wearing glasses cause it makes me look like a bookworm/nerd/freak, but there's no choice now...

Anyway, it's Racial Harmony Day today and it's been a pretty fun day. All our teachers except Mrs Haugen agreed not to teach as all of us were not in the mood to do so, haha. The concert's great too, too bad I do not have any pics to illustrate it, maybe someone can send me *hint* :D
The results of the winning couple for Sec3's very shocking too. I'm not being prejudice but it's very funny, haha. The racial harmony quiz is very screwed up too. Only the students sitting infont had the chance to answer it. The MC was fucked up and said Chinese New Year doesn't last for 15 days (she even gave the excuse that she wanted to scare the boy). Well, she doesn't know her facts about the main races in Singapore well and wants to become the MC of a Racial Harmony Quiz (WTF!)

Anyway, I'm kind of addicted to songs by Jet. I'm always listening to Hold On and Look What You've Done, both by Jet.
- Spiderman 2 has the best soundtrack package ever! -

OK, bye for now, I'll update my blog more oftenly in time to come. :)

Monday blues...

It's Monday again tomorrow and the hectic school life resumes... I'm still upset over the cancellation of tomorrow's PE lesson as I love PE - or rather playing soccer - alot! I do hope we still get to have PE on Wednesday.

Anyway, I went jogging just now and met my pri-school classmate. I was surprised to see him there as I have never seen him at the stadium before. He's studying in Chinese High and is so fit (he could do 7 pullups) It's amazing how people's fate can be poles apart - I am struggling in a neighbourhood school while he's doing so well at one of the top schools in Singapore. I heard that he got straight As in Sec3 and did not have to take the final year exams (wow!) I wish my school had such a system too, to motivate students to study harder.

I've got to sign off now, have a good week ahead. :)

Wet, wet, wet

Weather: Bright and Sunny
Listening to: Jet - Look What You've Done
Doing: Practising some math questions for tml's test
Recalling: My wet journey back home...

It was raining very heavily when I was on my way home. I was with Xin Xiang, Wen Hui, Limin and Hong Chuan and had to share umbrallas since we only had 3 of them - not enough for 5 of us. It was pretty fun walking in the rain, heh. My pants and shirt was drenched and luckily my bus came just when I reached the bus stop, else I'd have to bear with the wet clothes. The others went a different way.

It's finally Friday and this does not mark the end of the school week. I still have to return to school tomorrow for a math test. I wonder if I still can handle the test after not taking one for almost 2 months, but I really hope I am able to do so - cause I have to.
Sorry for not being able to update my blog regularly, school's really busy and when I've time to use the computer, I'd be very tired. School has really changed since this semester started. Teachers are gearing us up for the upcoming major examination and I can feel the increase amount of school/homework and class tests (at least two of it every week) as compared to the previous half of the year. Luckily I still have time in the evening to watch some TV and play a couple of Euro/NBA games on computer....

Our class's school creed has been "launched", and it really sounds great. Han Quan's voice is amazing and Hemma's piano scores blends in perfectly. I hope we'd win the creed competition.
Anyway, I've designed a Math e-Noticeboard for an inter-class competition - Mr Lee has been bugging me to complete - and its here (click to open). I find it very blend and kind of kiddy, but Mr Lee accepted it. (Hope I'd win this competition too!) Please give me comments on how to improve and what to add to make the webpage better looking and more content-filled.

Alright, I'll have to sign off now. I hope you all have a great weekend ahead. :)

Men: Price of Human Lives

I found this article in a forum and find it very meaningful and truthful. Terrorists are beheading innocent people (American, South Korean, next may be Filipino), when will it ever end? I really don't want to live to see a Singaporean get beheaded by those barbaric, cruel and mindless terrorists. Long live Peace and Justice.

------
Men: Price of Human Lives

"A Filipino abducted in Iraq will be executed unless the Philippines withdraws its troops from the country within 72 hours, said a video broadcast on Al-Jazeera television, showing a hostage cowering on his knees."

First the American. Then the Korean. Now the Filipino. It doesn't look like it's going to end.

As they always say, "Everyone has a mother". Everyone was born from and nurtured by a mother. From holding her new-born baby in her arms, hearing him say his first word, watching him take his first step. True enough, everyone has a mum. And how will she react to the news? I've read about the grief of the family of the beheaded South Korean. I really wonder.. the Filipino's parents.. how are they feeling now?

The Iraqis has parents too. Are they proud of their sons for serving the nation and bringing glory to the country? Or are they also disappointed by how degenerate their beloved sons turn out to be?

Maybe they have no choice. But, many of us can't even bear to watch the video of the beheading.. yet some can, with grins on their faces, slice their knives across others neck, amidst the victim's screamings and agony.

What is the price of human lives?

Where is the love?

Maria Sharapova - The Next Superstar

She's pretty, she's talented, her flawless face is appearing on more advertisements, she's endorsing an increasing number of products. She's Maria Sharapova, the tennis world's next superstar. She is 19 years young and has won her first grand slam title at this year's Wimbeldon tournament after beating Davenport and Serena Williams.
My friends especially Xavier, keeps talking about her, admiring her looks and boobs - not her tennis skills. Haha. She's definitely looks gorgeous to me too! :D

It's Friday again!

It's finally the end of another school week! I'm feeling good about it as my chinese tuition classes have finally ended and my weekend timeslots are almost free.

It has been another usual day in school today except for the physics lesson. We played with circuits during the physics practical today, it was fun! The circuit board was like a lego piece where you plug in "pieces" of wires, lightbulbs, resistors, switches etc, etc. After that practical lesson I was so tired, my eyes were on the verge of closing...

After school, Xavier, Xin Xiang and Wen Hui wanted to go watch Spiderman 2. I already watched it on Youth Day so I did not go with them, else I'd be the one left out =\ Xavier also wanted to buy the 'Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix'. Borders is offering it at S$15 only, down from the original ~$41 price. I wasn't too keen on buying it although it was a grab - it would be collecting dust after I read it, so I gave it a miss.

I think I'll go play basketball tomorrow, probably with Weishun. I'll sign off now, see you all soon!

O lvl Chinese oral experience

This is the first time I'm taking an O Level Oral examination. Of course, the experience will be new to me. Well, it is scary. It sort of has three stages:

In holding area (cool) ==> preparation (cold!) ==> enter classroom (hot and shaky)

After the end of the oral, its a huge relieve, like after your team has won the basketball championship or after a maths test. wooah.

Today is 7/7/2004, and the oral conversation topics were "Westerners are beginning to learn and speak chinese. What are your opinions?" and "Should teenages help do household chores?" The topics seem easy but I just couldnt squeeze more ideas outta my head.

Anyway, the exam is over - whats done is undone. I'll just have to hope for the best when the results are out in August.

Today has been another weary day for me, I'm dead beat after reaching home.
And hey, its the start of the COPA America 2004 Cup! Reminder, do NOT bet on a Brazil win cause its a year for all underdogs to win! LOL :D

Exhausted, totally...

Woah, I officially declare Tuesday as my most tiring day of the week. With double periods of Mrs Kwok's lessons, and school ending at almost 4:30pm, it'll be a miracle if I'm still energetic. I've also got tuition class till 7:30pm and then I can finally head back home for dinner and rest. It'd be worse if there were to be lots of homework - luckily not today.

Anyway, recalling the biology lesson I had in school today, it was the most active and outrages bio lesson I've had so far. Mrs Chu was teaching sexual reproduction in mammals and of course nothing would be complete w/o words from Xavier, lol. He asked what was a "dildo" and everyone in the class was like "huh?". Mrs Chu passed it off saying it was sort of a taboo to have a sex toy in Asia, but is common and accepted in the western culture (this explains why singapore has a low birth-rate - too much stress and no pleasure, heh)

Luckily Mrs Chu could see that everyone was tired after the theory lecture and let us off early - she wanted to have practical lessons on flowers after that! I strolled to the usual backgate bus stop with xavier, xin xiang and wenhui and took a short nap in the bus, i appreciate their company alot.

Finally Tuesday is over and I can take some rest already. Bye guys!

Google's blogger service aka Blogspot is screwed up

Damn, this blog service by Google is fucked up. No matter how many times I edit my template and republish it, the changes just will not apply! wtf? It's getting on my nerves. I think I'll have to change service soon if the updating speed is so slow, sometimes I cannot even enter the blog. wtf is google doing?

Every starting has an ending...

The month-long Euro 2004 competition has finally boiled down to its final match. Host Portugal will take on underdog Greece in I predict will be a very closely matched game. It'll be Portugal's attack versus the Dellas-led Greek defense. I do hope Portugal will win this match as I hate to see another underdog win a major event.

My Chinese O level exams conclude this Wednesday after the oral. My chinese tuition follows the conclusion too. My tutor has taught me since kindergarten 2 till now - Sec4. I really hope to achieve great results to do myself, my family and my tutor proud.
Well, every starting does end...

Deyi won Drum Major of the Year award!

Congrats to Yi Qian for winning the <>! The Deyi Band and him did the school real proud by putting up a marvelous performance at the stadium during the band competition! I think we did not win the Band of the Year Award because our patterns were not as attractive as Tanjong Katong's panther and shark designs. Nevertheless, the Deyi band displayed a large bell, a leaf and an elephant. Not only that, there was a surprise confetti "blow-up" at the end which wowed the entire audience~

Overall, the SYF festival was BORING! It was more of "Singapore CHOIR Festival" - the freaking choir was singing all the time, and the rest of the displays combined took up less time than what the choir took. Blerh!

Anyway, congrats to Deyi band and I hope Mrs Chua will make Wed a holiday! :D

I'm exhausted right now, have a good night and sweet dreams everyone!

Darkhorses darken the sports world...

Darkhorses...

Darkhorses never fail to impress the world with their ability to shine in major tournaments.

First it was the NBA with the darkhose Pistons sweeping the star-studded LA Lakers team. Now it is time for the darkhorses to steal the limelight in soccer. Underdogs and least favoured team Greece made it to the Finals to face the host Portugal! Isn't that amazing? A team which has never impress anyone in international matches has made it to one of the most prestigious tournament finals.
It is the same situation in tennis too. The William sisters used to dominate the world of tennis but it isn't the same currently. But for Formula 1, I've nothing to say about Michael Schumacher's complete dominance over the sport - rather I'm a great Schumi supporter! hehe :D

Back to school talk. It's my O levels Chinese listening compre and oral coming up. I really want to make the last push before it's too late. The only hope to push up my grade depends on my performance during LC and oral. Wish me luck!

Very busy week ahead

The opening week of the 2nd semester has been surprisingly busy for everyone. In school, NDP, SYF and Band practices go on everyday since school re-opened. Tuesday had been the most tiring day for me, school ended at 4pm and then I rushed for tuition class at 5pm. I came home at around 8pm and was totally exhausted...

But this isnt the end for me, there's still a very busy week ahead of me. I've got the Chinese O levels listen compre exam on Saturday and have to head to the stadium to support the band and m&d performances. I think it'll end at around 9-10pm, woah.
Unknowningly, it is Thursday today, 4 days have sneaked pass me while I was busy. It's Friday tomorrow and I hope it'll be a good ending to my school week.

Also in class, we've been teasing Hong Chuan about his new haircut. He has nicknames related to all the sports under the sun - Tiger Woods, Wayne Rooney (below), Bouma (below), David James, Andy Roddick. And also the franchise of Neo's: NeoPrint, NeoPets, NeoPlant (new! lol). And I think also Suzy! Haha.

Quote of the day:
In Chinese: You Ren Si Le Ke Shi Ta Hai Huo Zhe, You Ren Huo Zhe Ke Shi Ta Yi Jing Si Le
