Long break at home

I finally had the luxury of taking leave on Friday. The long break of 3 days will definitely help refresh myself for the coming weeks. I took the days to meet up with friends, and to recover lots of rest and play time. I went to Plaza Sing on Friday night for a movie with friends from NJ, we watched Hot Fuzz. I'm glad that I had the opportunity to study in different JCs, else I wouldn't have made such good friends like them.

I just received an SMS from a female friend. She was offered a place in the Medicine course at an Indian University. I'm very happy for her and sad for myself. Sad because I'm stuck in NS for 2 years while my friend can further her studies without wasting time. I'm also sad because I don't have the chance to study overseas. A degree in a UK university will set me back S$200k. Although studying in Australia is a lot cheaper, there're no universities there which specialises in aerospace engineering. After my holiday in NZ a few years back, I really love the lifestyle and environment there - the relaxing pace of life, friendly people, cool weather.

Waiting for NS to be over...

Thus far, I've only completed 2 months of NS. There're still 20 more months to go.
The NDU BMT ended on Monday, about 20 over people could not class up. Of course, everyone of them were very happy as not many of the trainees have the aspiration to be a diver. They're all so happy to be finally out of the course. I went out of course several weeks ago, and have been helping out with the office admin work. We get paid $350 a month to do what the Sergeants do in the office, and they get $2.5k a month. We're just like Bangladesh workers hired by Singaporean construction firms who get paid this little.
Currently, I'm just waiting to get posted to my permanent unit. I'll definitely try to spend the remaining 20 months on useful things like preparing for University by practicing Math daily, and revising and learning new Physics concepts. Now I realise that studying in school is so much more fun, mind-intriguing and mind-stimulating.

Really, really short week

As I helped out at the RSN Open House, I got two days off this week. In addition to the Vesak Day holiday, I had a two-day work week! I had to be in camp on Monday and Friday, I just booked out this evening.

The RSN Open House was fun, got to see many people, interacted with both adults and kids. My group was in charge of the fun rides. There were jet-skiing, banana boat and RHIBS. I stood on the pontoon under the sun for almost the whole day, helping people on and off the ride. The sense of achievement was really great, especially when people shake your hands and thank you for the boat ride. Of course, I was sunburnt at the end of the two days there. The consolations were that I got complimentary cash coupons and met Chen Weilian and Fiona Xie during their short 30mins performance.

I'm getting tired of my iPod, the same look and features. I've been contemplating which new mp3 player to get, there're so many choices! Time to go shopping again.
